How do I get there?

Race Location:  Cradle of Forestry in America
11250 Pisgah Hwy.
Pisgah Forest, NC 28768

Please note that many GPS units and popular “driving directions” websites will have you exploring the depths of the beautiful Pisgah National Forest, but often will not get you to the Cradle of Forestry in America Historic Site. Click Here for Directions. 

10K Details- Link to 10K Map

10K Course Directions:

– While on the Cradle of Forestry campus, there will be signs with arrows guiding you. Once you begin the trail section in the Pink Beds you will want to use the map provided to familiarize yourself with the course.

– Begin in the traffic circle in front of the Cradle of Forestry, follow the traffic circle counter clockwise to the gravel access road  on the left that will send you to the Forest Festival Trail.

– Take the RIGHT fork on the Forest Festival Trail, complete this 1 mile loop trail on the Cradle of Forestry campus.

– You will exit the Cradle of Forestry Campus by taking a right at the large “Pollinator Hotel” behind the main building onto a gravel service road that will connect you with the Pink Beds loop.

– Cross the Pink Beds picnic area and onto the Pink Beds loop.

– Begin with the LEFT side of the Pink Beds loop, being sure to continue straight, past the Barnett Branch cut through.

– Take a RIGHT at the fork when the trail forks. The trail to the left will take you along the “Gauging Station Trail”. This left is the turn for the 30K racers, the RIGHT turn has a sign to continue on the Pink Beds Loop.

– Continue on the Pink Beds loop, across the raised boardwalk and back the junction where the Pink Beds Loop begins.

– Back across the Pink Beds picnic area, up the gravel access road and onto the Cradle of Forestry campus.

– After passing through the back gate of The Cradle of Forestry, you will see the road split off to the left towards the amphitheater and the finish. Imagine the seats filled with your adoring fans as you complete the Cradle to Grave 10K.

– Be sure to record and share your finishing time!

– Using the right side of the Forest Festival Trail, complete this 1 mile loop trail on the Cradle of Forestry campus.

– You will exit the Cradle of Forestry Campus by taking a right at the large “Pollinator Hotel” behind the main building onto a gravel service road that will connect you with the Pink Beds loop.

– Cross the Pink Beds picnic area and onto the Pink Beds loop.

– Begin with the LEFT side of the Pink Beds loop, being sure to continue straight at the Barnett Branch cut through.

– Take a left when the trail forks onto the “Gauging Station Trail”,  the right turn is  marked with a sign to continue on the Pink Beds Loop. You will return to this fork in the trail later in the race.

– There is one fork in the Gauging Station Trail where you will take a LEFT, across a small creek.

– Continue on this creek side trail until you reach a gravel road/parking area. Take a LEFT, up the gravel road towards 1206/Yellow Gap Rd.

– Take a RIGHT when you reach Yellow Gap Rd, you will see Wolf Ford Horse Camp on your right.

– This is a long stretch of gravel that will take you to the trail head for Pilot Cove Loop on your left. CAUTION- there is a trail you will pass on your left for the “Pilot Rock Trail”, this is not your trail, you are looking for the “Pilot Cove Loop“.

– Continue up the Pilot Cove Loop trail. Take the RIGHT fork of the Pilot Cove Loop trail.

– Complete the loop trail, taking a moment to enjoy the view from the top.

– Turn RIGHT when you return to 1206/Yellow Gap Rd and retrace your path back to Wolf Ford Horse Camp.

– Take a LEFT, continuing to retrace your path to the parking area at the old gauging station and rejoin the same creek side trail. Traveling in this direction the trail is marked as “Pink Beds Connector”.

– You will return to the fork in the trail, this time continuing straight to complete the right side of the Pink Beds Loop.

– Complete on the Pink Beds loop, across the raised boardwalk and back the junction where the Pink Beds Loop begins.

– Back across the Pink Beds picnic area, up the gravel access road you left on and onto the Cradle of Forestry campus.

– After passing through the back gate you will see the road split off to the left towards the amphitheater and the finish. Imagine the seats filled with your adoring fans as you complete the Cradle to Grave 30K.
