In the shadow of Mount Rogers and only 8 miles from Damascus, VA, you’ll find Beartree Recreation Area. The campground is situated in a rugged section of the George Washington/Jefferson Forest and is a perfect staging point for anyone looking to hike or bike the Virginia Creeper Trail. The 14-acre lake in the day-use area provides families with the chance to swim, fish or relax at the beach. From within the campground you can also gain access to the Iron Mountain Trail, or take a short trip to the Mount Rogers Scenic byway or Appalachian Trail.
