Sunburst Campground
is nestled between two wilderness areas: Shining Rock and
Middle Prong of the Pisgah National Forest. Sunburst Campground
is a wooded, primitive campground on the outskirts of Canton,
NC. Its proximity to the trails makes it a great place for hiking.
Visitors may run into old iron implements from logging along the
way, as well as wildflowers and clear mountain streams, home to
native brook trout. The hike to Shining Rock offers beautiful
views of country meadows. Just across the street is a waterfall
perfect for an afternoon swim. The
Cradle of Forestry Historic Site, well-known Looking
Glass Falls, Sliding Rock, Pisgah
Center for Wildlife Education, and the Blue
Ridge Parkway are just a short distance from the
campground.
Approximately
15 miles from the campground you will be downtown Canton, NC,
a small town located in the Blue Ridge Mountains where you will
find grocery stores and restaurants.
