Choctaw Ranger District Information

The Choctaw Ranger District consists of 363,000 acres located on the west side of the Ouachita Mountains in southeastern Oklahoma.  The Talimena Scenic Byway offers breathtaking panoramas of the east-west ranges of the Ouachitas and winds 54 miles along the spine of Rich and Winding Stair Mountains.  The entire area offers so much to do - hiking, camping, fishing, hunting and water sports such as swimming, boating, and even scuba diving!  While you're here, browse our gift shop and pick up trail maps, identification books, t-shirts and various nature-related toys and gifts.
